Harvey Brodsky is a successful businessman who has a passionate affection for sports and an intense pride in his Jewish heritage. These two consuming desires created the initiative for him to co-found the Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame (PJSHOF).
The Philadelphia native, who retired as a food products manufacturing executive, was extremely influential in the planning, development and realizations of the Adolph and Rose Levis Museum, which houses the sports memorabilia, artifacts and background plaques on all of the Hall of Fame inductees.
While he spends a great deal of his time at his private investment office in the Rockwellian Borough of Narberth, a suburb of Philadelphia, he also finds significant hours to contribute to the support of the PJSHOF. Meetings, fund raising and committee coordination are just part of his commitment to maintaining a connection between Philadelphia’s past and present sports traditions.
His communal activities include Sigma Alpha Pi – Pi Lamda Phi, past president of Delco Brith Sholom, Radnor Valley Country Club, and Downtown Jewish Home for the Aged and Ocean Plaza Condiminiums, the Downtown Jewish Orphans Home and the JCCs of Greater Philadelphia.
Brodsky and his wife, the former Bobbi Levis, have two daughters, Lori Denicoff and Margie Axelrod.
Bill Steerman has always inspired others with his insight, intensity and integrity. He believes that his days at Temple University, where he was a member of the 1953 NCAA Championship Soccer Team, were invaluable to him. They were integral in helping to develop his awareness of the value of team efforts; devotion to a cause, fair competition, and sports as a common denominator in fostering and developing personal relationships. He participated in the Maccabiah Games in 1965 as an Assistant Coach for the Men’s Soccer Team and since that time Billy has continuously chamioned the cause of Jewish athletes. He plays a significant role in the development of the Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel (MUSA) and the Maccabi World Union.
Billy has served as a member of the Board of Directos for the International Sports Hall of Fame, Friends of Wingate and the Philadelphia Friends of Boys Town of Jerusalem. Billy is an attorney who resides in Philadelphia with his wife Louise. Billy and Louise have four children and eight grandchildren.
