Jake Cohen, raised in Berwyn, PA, built a basketball career that spanned high school, college, and twelve professional seasons in Israel, Spain, and Greece.
It started at Conestoga High School, where he was a 1,000-point scorer, Main Line Player of the Year, Chester County Player of the Year, and Central League MVP, and helped Conestoga win the Central League in 2008. He also represented JCC Kaiserman at the JCC Maccabi Games, where the Philadelphia team won gold and Cohen scored 33 points in the championship game.
At Davidson College, Cohen was SoCon Freshman of the Year and a two-time SoCon Player of the Year, finishing his career as the program’s all-time leader in blocked shots and starts. Davidson won the Southern Conference in 2012 and 2013. In 2010, he represented Israel’s Under-20 national team at the European Championships, where he finished as the tournament’s leading scorer.
After college, Cohen signed with EuroLeague club Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he spent nine of his twelve professional seasons. He played more than 500 games for the club, winning five Israeli League championships and two State Cups, and also played for Aris Thessaloniki in Greece and Obradoiro CAB in Spain. Across seven of those years, he was a member of the Israeli senior national team, helping it defeat European powers including Spain, Serbia, and Germany. He was a founding member and elected vice president of the EuroLeague Players Association.
Cohen retired in 2025 and is now a financial advisor at Axiom Asset Management in Wayne, PA, where he works with current athletes. He lives in Malvern, PA with his wife and two children.
