Inductee Profile

Bryan Cohen

Bryan Cohen, is the first basketball player in Patriot League history to earn Defensive Player of the Year three consecutive seasons while also scoring 1,102 points at Bucknell University from 2009-13. A Lower Moreland, PA native, he had played for 2014 PJSHOF inductee Coach Steve Chadwin at Abington Friends and later became a three-time participant for Team USA at the Maccabi Games.

Upon graduation from Bucknell, where he averaged 8.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists, he moved to Israel to play professionally. Spending his first season with Hod Hasharon near Tel Aviv, Cohen went on to join Maccabi Haifa the following season. Maccabi Haifa would go on to upset perennial power Maccabi Tel Aviv to win the 2013 Israel Premier League championship.

That came as no surprise to his former Maccabi Philadelphia coach. “He was a rare kid that at a young age was always a tremendous defensive player,” recalled Brian Schiff, himself a 2017 PJSHOF inductee. “He was a wing who was long and could shoot.”

Since returning to the USA after his stint abroad, Cohen joined his older brother, Aron, to open Full Court Development, a real estate company which purchases properties and renovates them in West Philadelphia and Brewerytown.
