Colby Cohen was a noted professional hockey player as a defenseman in the National Hockey League with the Colorado Avalanche and the 2011 Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins. He currently serves as a color analyst for networks such as NBC Sports, Westwood One and ESPN.

Cohen was born and raised in Villanova and attended Radnor High School where he helped lead the Raiders to a Championship in the Inter-County Scholastic Hockey League. From there he moved onto the US National 17-18 team. Next, he attended Boston University and in his sophomore year enjoyed his most successful season when the Terriers won the 2009 National Championship. He not only earned selection to the Frozen Four All-Tournament Team but was named the Most Outstanding Player of the entire Tournament after scoring the game-winning goal in overtime to cement the Terriers National Championship.

Returning for his junior campaign, Cohen was named to both the Hockey East All-Star Team and the NCAA East All-American Team. During that season, he led the team’s defense with 30 points in 36 games and scored 14 Goals, the most scored in a single season by a BU Defenseman in over 30 years.

In 2010, Cohen ended his collegiate career by signing a contract with the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche. After only three games with the Avalanche, Cohen was traded to the Boston Bruins where he received a Stanley Cup ring when the Bruins won the 2011 Stanley Cup.

Cohen joined NESN as a College Ice Hockey Analyst while also completing his degree in History from Boston University. And after bouncing around European clubs for a season, he opted to end his professional playing career to pursue a career as a television analyst.
